with Flash sync input cable. Cameras can be modifi ed for use with non-shutter lenses. The
CFVII back is also usable on view cameras with a Hasselblad V system adapter. The CFVII
digital back has some improvements over the CVF type including a larger privew screen with
a 2.5 inch diagonal. (The diagonal on the CFV is 2.2 inches) The controls are identical, are in
the same location and are operated in the same way.
Consult the Hasselblad Web sites mentioned in the Preface or contact the Hasselblad
agent in your country for exact information about adapting and using the Hasselblad digital

Hasselblad H2F
This is basically the H2 camera but without some of the features that are required mainly in
digital imaging. The H2F (F stands for fl exible) has all the wonderful features that make the
H cameras such wonderful tools for studio and location photography in the 6 4.5 fi lm
format from a tripod or handheld. While the H2 is basically designed for fi lm photography, it
can be used for digital imaging with Hasselblad CF and CFH digital backs but does not have
the integration of the lens, camera and software of the digital Hasselblad models. The camera
cannot be used with digital backs from other sources.
In addition to the H2F, all H system cameras except the H3DII can be used for fi lm pho-
tography by attaching a fi lm magazine HM 16-32.
Hasselblad 503CW
In addition to the current 503CW, all other V system camera models can be equipped with
any Hasselblad fi lm magazine or a Hasselblad digital back.
RECORDING THE DIGITAL IMAGE IN THE CAMERA
Basics of Digital Imaging
In digital imaging, the image is recorded on a light-sensitive sensor instead of light-sensitive
lm. The sensor in Hasselblad digital cameras and digital backs is a CCD with millions of light-
sensitive areas on its surface. An array color fi lter in front of the sensor fi lters the light so that
some pixels only receive red, others only green, and others only blue. The electronic signals
from the sensor are then processed and stored as a digital fi le. The electronic image is made
up of red, green, and blue components that combine to form an RGB image which is then
processed in FlexColor or the newer Phocus software into a Hasselblad 3F fi le. This le can
be made into a DNG, TIFF, JPEG, or other fi le format.
You may want to keep in mind that a digital camera or digital back requires power and
you cannot take digital images without power. Make certain that you always have power avail-
able so you can continue with your digital photography.
