symbol working in the same fashion appears on the left side of the preview screen indicating
when the Image Bank battery needs re-charging or changing (Figure 4-3).

AUDIO FEEDBACK SYSTEM
To inform you or warn you of various camera functions or possible problems the newer
H3DII cameras offer an audio system with 14 different sounds. In addition to the sounds
shown in Figure 4-4, Button Press is a simple mechanical click.
ATTACHING AND REMOVING LENSES
To attach a lens to the camera body, align the red index on the rear lens mount with the red
index on the camera body; then turn the lens approximately one-quarter turn until it clicks
into position. To remove lenses, press the Lens Release button (item 42, Figure 4-1) on the
side of the camera, and turn the lens in the opposite direction. Do this while holding the
lenses by the metal lens barrel, not by the rubber focusing ring. As there is no mechanical
connection between camera and lens, lenses can be removed or attached at any time. Keep
the electronic Databus connections between camera body and lenses clean and do not touch
them with your fi ngers. Attach rear covers to detached lenses and place a front cover on the
camera body if it is stored without a lens attached.
Chapter 14 discusses lens design, lens characteristics, and lens quality, and the proper
selection, effective use, and operation of various HC focal length lenses for creating high qual-
ity images in detail. Close-up photography and the use of close-up accessories on the H cam-
era are discussed in Chapter 19.
VIEWFINDERS AND FOCUSING SCREENS
Eye-Level Finders
Because you must turn the H cameras to take vertical pictures, viewing from behind the cam-
era is the logical approach especially when photographing handheld. The H cameras therefore
