Digital Imaging with Hasselblad 31
The four digital Hasselblad cameras mentioned above are completely integrated digital
cameras, not medium-format cameras with a digital back attached. As a result these cam-
eras cannot be used with any other digital backs made by Hasselblad or any other company.
These cameras also cannot be used for fi lm photography. While the sensor unit (digital back)
is removable mainly for the purpose of cleaning the charge couple device (CCD), it is not
designed for use on any other Hasselblad camera or other types of medium format camera
but can be attached to a view camera with the H mount adapter.
Hasselblad 503CWD Digital SLR V System Camera
A Hasselblad 503 camera with 80mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss CFE Planar lens and CFVII 16 Mpixel
single shot digital back with 36.7 36.7 mm sensor with 4080 4080 pixels, ISO 50–400.
The digital back can be removed and used on other V system cameras as described in the
section Hasselblad CFV Single Shot Digital Back. The 503CWD digital camera can also be used
for 2¼ square or 6 4.5 fi lm photography by attaching a fi lm magazine A12, A16, or A24.
The original 503CWD camera was sold as a special anniversary model with Victor
Hasselblad's signature underneath the LCD display on the digital back. The camera was sold
together with a CFV (not CFVII) digital back.
THE DIFFERENT HASSELBLAD DIGITAL BACKS
Hasselblad CF 39 Single Shot and CF 39MS Single and Multishot
39 Mpixel sensor, 36.7 49.0 mm with 5412 7212 pixels, ISO 50–400.
Hasselblad CF 22 Single Shot and CF 22MS Single and Multishot
22 Mpixel sensor, 36.7 49.0 mm with 4080 5440 pixels, ISO 50–400.
The digital backs CF 39 and CF 22 do not attach directly to any camera body but in com-
bination with an adapter that is a separate item and must be ordered separately. This arrange-
ment was done purposely because it allows the photographer to use the same digital back
on earlier Hasselblad H cameras, on all V system models including 200 and 2000 models
equipped with shutter lenses, and on 202, 203, and 205 models also with F lenses after a
slight camera modifi cation. This digital back can also be used on practically all other makes
of medium and large format cameras. You do not have to purchase a new back if you want to
do digital imaging with another camera, just purchase the adapter which also comes with a
mask for the viewing screen on that particular camera. Flash sync input cables are necessary
on some models. The CF digital backs cannot be attached to H3D camera models where the
digital back is part of the camera system.
Hasselblad CFVII Single Shot Digital Back
16 Mpixel sensor, 36. 7 36.7 mm with 4080 4090 pixels, ISO 50–400.
The Hasselblad CFV digital back can be attached to Hasselblad V system cameras including
FlexBody, ArcBody and 200 and 2000 models equipped with shutter lenses in combination
