6.1.4 Auto Cal / Auto Adjustment
When the module has been started up, measurement channels with strain gauge full bridges
are cyclically adjusted during runtime. This mechanism improves the longterm stability
(aging) and, in the event of temperature variation at the place of installation of the measuring
instrument, also the shorttime stability of a measuring amplifier.
Autocalibration briefly interrupts measurement and instead of measured values from a
transducer signals from an internal calibration source are transmitted to the A/D converter
(zero and reference signal).
MX840, MX840A and MX440A amplifiers offer an auto adjustment function.
In the full/half bridge measurement mode, these amplifiers use a second measuring circuit
that measures in parallel to the input circuit and carries out a calibration cycle at 30 second
intervals. Longterm and shorttime stability are thus guaranteed in this circuit. A patented
method now enables the calibration channel’s accuracy to be transferred to the
measurement channel.
These modules thus attain high stability without the need to cyclically hold the measured
value.
Autocalibration is activated by default. This cyclical autocalibration can also be quickly
deactivated via QuantumX-Assistant and via catmanEASY
.
