10.11 Replacementofsupplymodule
YoucanswitchbetweenalltypesofsupplymodulesinMULTICAL®603.Forexample,itcanbeanadvantage,fora
periodoftime,toexchang eamains‐connectedsupplymoduleforbatteryinabuildingwhichhasvaryingmains
supplyduetorestorationorconstructionwork.Forsomemeterconfigurations
batterysupplyisnotapractical
option,e.g.inconnectionwithfrequentdatacommunication.However,itisalwayspossibletoswitchthemodule
typefrombatterysupplytomainssupplywithoutreconfiguringthemeter.
10.12 Databackupincaseofinterrup t ionofsupply
MULTICAL®603isfittedwithasmalllithiumbattery(BR1632)asbackupforthemeter’sinternalclockincaseof
interruptionofthesupply.Independentofthemountedsupply modulethemeterisequippedwithfunctionality
whichsavesallcurrentregistercountsincasethevoltageoftheinternal3.6VDC
supplyisbelow3.1VDC.Whenthe
supplyisre‐established,themetercontinuescountingfromthevalue,whichwassavedwhenthesupplywas
interrupted.

Installationofmainsconnectedequipmentforregistrationofconsumption.

Theconsumptionofenergyandresources(electricity,heat,gasandwater)oftheindividualconsumeristoan
increasingextentregisteredbyelectronicmeters,andoftenequipmentforremotereadingandremotecontrolof
bothelectronicandnon‐electronicmetersisused.
Generalregulationsforcarryingoutinstallationsmustbeobserved.
However,thefollowingmodificationsare
permitted:
Ifmeterorequipmentforremotereadingorremotecontrolisdoubleinsulated,itisnotnecessarytoextend
theprotectiveconductortotheconnectionpoint.Thisalsoappliesiftheconnectionpointisaplugsocket,
providedthatitisplacedin
acanningwhichissealableorcanbeopenedwithkeyortoolonly.
Ifmeterorequipmentusedforremotereadingandremotecontrolisconnectedtoasafetytransformermountedin
thepanelanddirectconnectedtothebranchconductor,noon‐off‐switchorseparateovercurrentprotectionin
eitherprimaryorsecondarycircuitisrequired,providedthatthefollowingconditionsarefulfilled:
Thesafetytransformermusteitherbeinherentlyshort‐circuit‐prooforfail‐safe.
Theconductoroftheprimarycircuitmusteitherbeshort‐circuit‐protectedbytheovercurrentprotectionof
thebranchconductoror
short‐circuitsafelyrun.
Theconductorofthesecondarycircuitmusthaveacrosssectionofatleast0.5mm²andacurrentvalue
whichexceedstheabsolutemaximumcurrentdeliverablebythetransformer.
Itmustbepossibletoseparatethesecondarycircuitbyseparators,oritmustappear
fromtheinstallation
instructionsthatthesecondarycircuitcanbedisconnectedatthetransformer’sterminals.
Generalinformation
Workonthefixed installation,includinganyinterventioninthegrouppanel,mustbecarriedoutbyanauthorized
electrician.
Itisnotrequiredthatserviceworkonequipmentcomprisedbythismessage
aswellasconnectionanddisconnection
oftheequipmentoutsidethepaneliscarriedoutbyanauthorizedelectrician.Thesetaskscanbecarriedoutby
personsorcompanies,whoprofessionallyproduce,repairormaintainequipmentifonlythepersoncarryingoutthe
workhasthenecessaryexpertknowledge.
