InternaldatacommunicationinMULTICAL
603isbasedontheKamstrupMeterProtocol(KMP)whichprovidesafast
andflexiblereadingstructureandalsofulfilsfuturerequirementstodatareliability.
TheKMPprotocolisusedinallKamstrupconsumptionmeterslaunchedfrom2006onwards.Theprotocolisusedfor
theopticalreadingheadandvia
plugpinsforthemodulearea.Thus,moduleswithe.g.M‐BusinterfaceusetheKMP
protocolinternallyandtheM‐Busprotocolexternally.
Integrityandauthenticityofdata
Alldataparametersincludetype,measuringunit,scalingfactorandCRC16checksum.
Everyproducedmeterincludesauniqueidentificationnumber.
12.2 Opticalreadouthead
Theopticalreadingheadcanbeusedfordatacommunicationviatheopticalinterface.Theopticalreadoutheadis
placedonthefrontofthecalculatorjustabovetheIR‐diodeasshowninthefigurebelow.Notethattheopticalreadout
headincludesaverystrongmagnet,whichshouldbe
protectedbymeansofanirondiscwhennotinuse.
Variousvariantsofth eopticalreadoutheadappearfromthelistofaccessories(seeparagraph3.1.1).
Power‐savinginconnectionwiththeopticalreadouthead
InordertolimitthepowerconsumptionofthecircuitaroundtheIR‐
diode,themeterincludesamagnetsensorwhich
switchesoffthecircuitwhenthereisnomagnetclosetoit.
