7.3 Offsetadjustmentoftemperature sensormeasurement
MULTICAL®603isavailablewithpossibleoffsetadjustmentofthetemperaturesensormeasurement,thus
increasingtheaccuracyoftheabsolutetemp eraturemeasurement.Thisisespeciallyrelevantintheinstallation
scenariothatthemeteristobeusedfortariffbillingbasedonabsolutetemperatures.Inthatcase,itisanEN1434
requirementthattheaccuracyofthemeter’sabsolutetemperaturereadingmustbewithin±1.0K.Offset
adjustmentisextremelyrelevantindistrictcoolinginstallationstoo.Indistrictcoolinginstallationsthecustomer
oftenrequiresamaximuminlettemperature.Absolutetemperaturemeasurementmeasuringwithundesirable
inaccuracycancausethesupplierto
supplywaterwithalowerinlettemperaturethanpromised,resultingin
unnecessaryextracostsforthesupplier.
Dependingonthemeter’sconfiguration,theoffsetadjustmentcanbeprogrammedintothemeterfromthefactory.
Inaddition,offsetcanbeadjustedafterdeliveryviathemeter’sSETUPloop(seeparagraph6.3)or
viaMETERTOOL
HCW(seeTechnicaldescription5512‐2096).
Note:Dependingonthe meter’sconfiguration,theoffsetadjustmentcanbedisabled,andinthiscase,themenu
itemintheSETUPloopwilldisplay“Off”.
Ifthetemperaturesensor pairofameterwithoffsetadjustmentisreplaced,itisrecommended
tocorrecttheoffset
tomatchthenewlyconnectedsensorpair.Alternatively,offsetshouldbeadjustedto0.00K,whichmeansthatthe
functionisswitchedoffanddoesnotcontributetoanundesirableincreaseoftheerroroftheabsolutetemperature
measurements.Notethattheoffsetadjustmentinfluencesconnectedtemperature
sensorsonbotht1,t2andt3.
Temperaturesensoroffset(t

)canbeadjustedintheinterval‐0.99…0.99Kaccordingtothemeter’sapproval.
Pleasebeawarethattherequiredoffsetadjustmentmustbeentered,nottheerrorofthetemperaturesens orpair.
Iftheselectedtemperaturesensorpaircontributeswithanerrorof‐0.20K,themeter’soffsetmustbesetat0.20K.
