25.1Checking the valve clearance
Remove the filter box bottom. ( p. 28)
Remove the side covers. ( p. 36)

Detach connector of the ignition coil.
Remove the ignition coil.
Remove screws and take off the valve cover.
Remove the spark plug using the special tool.
Spark plug wrench (75029172000) ( p. 202)
Repeat these steps on the second cylinder.
Set the engine to ignition top dead center of the rear cylinder. ( p. 76)

On all valves, check the valve clearance between the camshaft and cam lever.

Feeler gauge (59029041100) ( p. 196)
» If valve clearance does not meet specifications:
Adjust the rear valve clearance. ( p. 150)
Set the engine to ignition top dead center of the front cylinder. ( p. 76)

Remove special tool .
Crank the engine several times. Check the valve clearance and correct it if neces-
sary.
Remove special tool and screw in and tighten screw .

Plug, crankshaft retainer M8 15 Nm
