• Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-
sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with
an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.
• Before installing the PIB board, touch the static-protective package that contains the new PIB board to
any unpainted surface on the outside of the server. Then, take the new PIB board out of the package and
place it on a static-protective surface.
• Before installing the PIB board, ensure that the system board assembly is removed out of the chassis first.

Step 1. Align the PIB board with the connector on the processor board, and use both hands to push the
PIB board and slightly insert it into the connector.
Step 2.
Install the two screws to secure the PIB board.
After installing the PIB board:
1. Install the system board assembly into the chassis. See
“Install the system I/O board or processor
board” on page 203
.
2. Push the power supplies into the bays until they click into place.
3. Complete the parts replacement. See
“Complete the parts replacement” on page 215.
