Engage the splined shaft at the bottom end of the column in the top universal
joint and secure by the clam

bolt.

Tighter1 bolts to torque lwdings specified in TECHNICAL DATA. Reconnect
the battery
and check the correct function of the switches.
STEERING
COLUMN LOCK/IGNITION SWITCH
To Remove
1.
Remove the steering column ossembl y.
2.
Drill out the lock/ignition switch clamp bolts and remove the lock assembl
y

To Reploce
1.
Fit new lock/igriitiori switch assembly, ensuring that the spigot locates ~:th
the hole in the column orid secure clamp with the bolts provided. Ti
g
hten
the bolts until the heads are shear off.

UNIT
To Remove
1.
Support vehicle to allow adequate working space under the front of th?
vehicle arid remove the front rood wheels.
2.
Remove the nuts and flat washers, and free the ball
-
joints from the stoerirtg
arms.
3.
Remove the intermedicte steering column.
4.
Fr~m under the front of the vehicle, remove the two bolts from each steering
unit clamp. Remove the clamps together with the steering unit, mounting
rubbers and spocers.
IMPORTANT

Retain any shims arid note the locotio:~.
To Replace
1.
Reverse the removal procedure and ti
g
hten all bolts to the torques specified
in TECHNICAL DATA.
Take corr
in
ensure shims ore refitted in the correct
positions to maintain
cleararlce between steering column universal joint, nuts/
bolts and chassis.
