ALTERNATOR
To Remove
m
1.
Disconnect both battery terminals.
2.
Loosen the alternotor fixing bolts and move the alternator down to loosen
the belt. Disconnect the electrical connections to the alternator, lift off
the belt and remove the fixing bolts.
To Replace
1.
Replacement
is
the reverse of the removal procedure. Adjust the belt
tension as described in 'ALTERNATOR
BELT
ADJUSTMENT'.

Foul t Finding
Before carrying out the
foult finding procedure check the following conditions:
(a)
AI
ternator is correctly fitted.
(b)
Electrical connections to the alternator are correct.
(c)
The armature
is
free to turn.
(d)
The battery
is
fully chorged.
(e)
The belt tension
is
correct.
WARNINGS
7
(i)
Do
NOT
disconnect the alternator or regulator when the engine
is
running.
(ii)
Do
NOT
earth the field winding.
(iii)
Disconnect both terminals to battery when installing or removing
the alternator.

one phase of the stator winding
(positive on voltmeter) and grovnd

voltmeter). The stator winding connection con be

through one of the top three holes in the bottom half
of
the rear
covet. Disconnect voltmeter and reconnect between the of
the
stotdr winding (negbtive on voltage) and the positive terminal
of

battery (positive

voltmeter). If the voltmeter rqisters
