4.7 Power Failure Alarm Test
1. Set the system switch to the ON position.
2. Disconnect the AC mains.
3. Ensure that the AC mains indicator and battery charge indicator are extinguished. An
audible alarm should sound and the prompt message "Battery in Use" should be displayed

4.8 Pipeline Tests
NOTE: If the pipeline suply is unavailable, please use the cylinder.
4.8.1 O
2
Pipeline Test
1. Connect the O
2
pipeline supply.
2. Close all cylinder valves if the A5/A3 anesthesia machine is equipped with cylinders.
3. Set the system switch to the ON position.
4. Set the flow controls approximately to mid-range (approximately 6 L/min).
5. Ensure that the O
2
pipeline pressure gauges show 280 to 600 kPa (40 to 87 psi).
6. Disconnect the O
2
pipeline supply.
7. As O
2
pressure decreases, alarms for “O
2
Supply Failure” and “Drive Gas Pressure Low”
should occur.
8. Ensure that the O
2
gauge decreases to zero.
4.8.2 N
2
O Pipeline Test
NOTE: When doing the N
2
O pipeline test, connect the O
2
supply first to enable
N
2
O flow control.
NOTE: Different from O
2
pipeline supply, when N
2
O supply is disconnected, no
alarms related to N
2
O pressure occur as N
2
O pressure decreases.
1. Connect the O
2
and N
2
O pipeline supplies.
2. Close all cylinder valves if the A5/A3 anesthesia machine is equipped with cylinders.
3. Set the system switch to the ON position.
4. Set the flow controls approximately to mid-range (approximately 6 L/min).
5. Check that the N
2
O pipeline pressure gauges show 280 to 600 kPa (40 to 87 psi).
6. Disconnect the N
2
O pipeline supply.Ensure that the N
2
O gauge decreases to zero.
