3.5 DOWNLOADING MAPS
Upload maps, create missions, define safety parameters, set units of measurement and
other user setting preferences. GeoPDF maps can be imported.
Maps need to be downloaded for each area only once. We recommend downloading maps
before going into the field. This can be done while in the field as long as there is a wi-fi
connection.

Note: Offline maps are the
maps downloaded on the GS.
Tile sets are the different
To download maps:
1. Open Teal QGC.
2. Tap the Main menu icon.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap the Offline Maps in the left menu.
5. Tap Add New Set.
6. Find the area of interest on the map.
7. If the Add New Set menu reads, “Too many tiles”, zoom in until the message is no
longer displayed.
8. The Add New Set menu shows the accessible tile count and the established size of
the map. This is the size of the map download.
9. Under Name, name the map to make the file identifiable.
10. The Min/Max Zoom Levels indicate how far you can zoom in and out of the map set
after download.
11. Tap Download.
12. The offline menu appears showing the tile you downloaded.
At the bottom of the screen, select Import, Export, or Options. Import brings in other
already downloaded map tiles. They become accessible from the offline maps menu.
Export moves downloaded map tile sets into another folder for transfer to another device.
Options contains information about the map cache. Do not modify unless advised by Teal
Support.
3.5.1 TRANSFER MAPS TO USB-C DRIVE
To transfer downloaded maps from the GS to the external USB-C drive:
1. Connect the GCS to an external storage device via the USB-C port.
2. Open Teal Settings.
