External DC 24 V supply
Installation
5.7 External DC 24 V supply
Option DCS..B requires an external voltage supply of DC 24 V (SELV or PELV,
EN 50178). The following conditions must be taken into account for project planning and
installation of the power supply unit:
It is essential that you observe the minimum and maximum tolerances of the supply
voltage.
To achieve a rather low residual ripple of the supply voltage, we recommend using a
3-phase power supply unit or an electronically controlled unit. The power supply unit
must meet the requirements stipulated in EN 61000-4-11 (voltage dip).
The external DC 24 V supply of the DCS..B option not only supplies internal elec-
tronic components but also the external velocity and position sensors. These have
no separate short circuit protection.
Always ensure safe electrical isolation against the voltage supply system (e.g.
AC 230 V). For this purpose, select power supply units that meet EN 60742. When
selecting the unit, make sure it has equipotential bonding between PE and DC 0 V
on the secondary side.
Protect option DCS..B externally with a 2 A fuse. Observe local regulations when
dimensioning the connection cables.
Option DCS..B is immune to interference voltages up to DC 32 V.
Tolerance
Minimum (-15 %) Maximum (+15 %)
Nominal voltage = DC 24 V DC 24 V 15% = DC 20.4 V DC 24 V +15% = DC 27.6 V
INFORMATION
Without fuse, the DCS..B option can be destroyed in the event of a short circuit on one
of the digital outputs (DO 0/1/2).
