Position
processing
• If position processing is enabled, at least one of the two encoder signals must come
from an SSI absolute encoder. If you provide the DCS..B option with only one SSI
absolute value, then it has to be assigned to "encoder 2".
• When using SSI absolute encoders it is important that velocities are calculated from
the position signals. For this purpose, the encoder must have the respective resolu-
tion and reproducibility of the accuracy.
Process and
diagnostic sensor
• In the DCS..B option, the two encoder are distinguished as process sensor and ref-
erence sensor. The process sensor is primarily used for all calculations. Refer to
chapter "Encoder combinations" for encoder assignment as process or reference
sensor.
• One encoder signal has the function of a process sensor, the other one the function
of a reference sensor. The process sensor, i.e. usually "encoder 1" is used for all cal-
culations in the DCS..B option.
• If position processing is used in the DCS..B option, "encoder 2" will be the process
sensor. An exception is the combination with two SSI absolute encoders. In this
case, "encoder 1" is the process sensor.
• Reference sensor and process sensor are adjusted cyclically during operation with-
out position processing. The reference sensor is adjusted to the process sensor.
