Resolution
In the "Resolution" edit box, you can enter the resolution of the encoder, or the value
converted to the distance in steps per meter (linear system) or in steps per revolution
(rotary system). Clicking on the "Calculation sheet" icon opens a conversion tool that
will help you with the conversion (see chapter "Conversion example").
Value range: 5 to 2 × 10

Offset
Entering an offset lets you scale the value of the SSI absolute encoder to the actual
position of the application. Clicking the "Calculation sheet" icon opens a conversion
tool to support you in calculating the offset.
Value range: 1.67 x 10

to 1.67 x 10

If the "Backplane bus abs." option is selected in the "Absolute value source" selection
field, the offset of the DCS..B option can additionally be influenced by changing the
offset on MOVIDRIVE
®
B.

INFORMATION
If the "Backplane bus abs." selection field is selected, parameter P557 of
MOVIDRIVE
®
B must be set to the correct encoder interface, see chapter "P557
DCS actual position source (page 75)".
The "backplane bus abs." function may only be used when a second encoder
signal is available for reference (see chapter "Combination of various encoder
types").
When connecting an absolute encoder to the DCS..B option via encoder split cable
(terminal X84/X85), the encoder must provide the absolute value in SSI data
format.
When transmitting the absolute value via the backplane bus of MOVIDRIVE
®
B, all
absolute encoders (data formats) can be used that are supported by
MOVIDRIVE
®
B.
INFORMATION
Note that in both cases positions 0 are not permitted in the DCS..B option. An
alarm will be issued resulting in disabling the DCS..B option.
If the absolute value is obtained via the backplane bus, suitable measures have to
be taken to ensure that the absolute position matches the actual position of the
axis.
