Cleaning and Replacement of the Plunger and the Diaphragm
When replacing the plunger, be sure to replace the plunger seal and the
diaphragms.

Perform the following steps to clean or replace the plunger and diaphragm.

Wipe plunger with a sheet of
wiping pape soaked with
2-propanol to remove any portion
of the seal or dirt attached to the
plunger (A).
If small pieces of the
plunger seal material
adheres to the
surface, the
airtightness cannot
be maintained.

Check that there are no visible scratches on the plunger (A) or the diaphragm (B).
• If scratches are found through visual inspection, replace with a new plunger.
Proceed to the next procedure 3.
• If no scratches are found through visual inspection, proceed to step 2.
Do NOT allow foreign particles or crystals into the head holder.
Foreign particles from the mobile phase solution or crystals from the buffer
solution getting into the head holder may cause scratches on the surface of
the plunger.
