Creating and Using Math Waveforms
TDS5000 Series User Manual
3- 175
Use this procedure to define a spectral math waveform. If you have purchased
the Advanced Analysis option (TDS5UP Option 2A), use the subsequent
procedure beginning on page 3--176.
Overview To define a spectral math waveform Control elements and resources
Prerequisites
1. All sources that you will use in your math waveform
must be available.
See page page 3--25 for acquisition setup
Open the Math
Setup control
window
2. From the toolbar, cli ck the Math button to open the Math
Setup control window.
3. Click the Mathn tab of the math waveform you want to
define.
Select the
source and
display the
spectral
waveform
4. Select the source for the spectral waveform from the
FFT Source drop-down list . The source can be a l ive
waveform or another math waveform.
Notice that the spectral waveform is displayed as soon
as you select the source.
Set the
magnitude
scale
5. Select a value from the Scal e drop-down list to select
the vertical scale factor:
H dB displays magnitude using the log scale,
expressed in dB relative to the reference level
offset.
H Linear displays magnitude using units equal t o the
source units.
H dBm sets the reference level offset to predefi ned
values for dBm.
Tip. You can adjust the scale and position by clicking
the waveform handle and using the multipurpose knobs.
