Appendix E: Optimizing Measurement Accuracy
This oscilloscope can compensate itself and any attached probes, optimizing the
internal signal path used to acquire the waveforms you measure. Compensation
optimizes the capability of the oscilloscope to take accurate measurements based
on the ambient temperature.
This appendix contains procedures that will help increase the accuracy of the
measurements you take.
Use this procedure to compensate the oscilloscope so that it can take accurate
measurements based on the ambient temperature.
Overview To compensate the oscilloscope Control elements and resources
Prerequisites
1. The oscilloscope must be powered on. Allow a 20
minute warm up. Remove all input signals.
See Powering on the Oscilloscope on page 1--8.
Display the
calibration
instructions
2. From the menu bar, select the Utilities menu Instrument
Calibration command.
Calibrate the
oscilloscope
3. The Status control should indicate Pass. If the Status is
Warm-up, wait until it changes. If it does not change to
Pass, use the following steps to calibrate the
oscilloscope.
Note: Si gnal Path Compensation is the only calibration
function accessible to users.
4. Click Calibrate to start the calibration. Calibration may
take several minutes. Calibration is complete after
Running is no longer displayed in the St atus readout.
The calibration Status should be Pass. If not, have the
oscilloscope serviced by qualified service personnel.
