SEAT TIME DELAY MODULE (U5)
The seat time delay module allows for a 0.5 second
delayed opening. The module will allow the engine to
run in the event that an operator encounters a bounce
situation and momentarily comes off the seat cushion.
This prevents immediate shut off of the engine.
The seat time delay module has two modes of opera-
tion.
The module is energized when both C and D
terminals are grounded in the circuit and the
module provides an output ground from the B
terminal to energize Interlock Relay 3.
The module is energized when 12V DC is
applied to the E terminal from the seat switch
circuit and the module provides an output
ground to energize Interlock Relay 3.

SOLENOIDS (K6 & K8)
While solenoids are similar to relays in construction,
solenoids have a different purpose. When energized,
the solenoids used in the electrical system create a
magnetic draw, which seat and unseat a poppet or
plunger in the fuel or hydraulic system. This allows flu-
ids to travel to and from a component.
Figure 10I-5. Solenoid Circuit
One side of the solenoid coil is grounded. When cur-
rent is applied to the opposite side, a magnetic field is
generated within the coil (Figure 10I-5). This magnetic
field is used to move the poppet or plunger in the com-
ponent.
There are three basic tests that can be performed on
the solenoid to determine its condition.
Power inlet and ground
Coil resistance
Coil operation
Testing power inlet and ground determines if current
from the electrical system is actually applied to the
solenoid and if the solenoid is grounded for proper
operation.
Testing coil resistance determines if the coil resistance
is too high to allow the flow of current or too low, caus-
ing a short or circuit overload.
