Refer to the Strata DK40 Programming Manual or DK Library CD-Rom for more details.
Cabling
ISDN PRI equipment should be connected using CAT5, Shielded Twisted-Pair (STP) cabling
between the NTE and the RPTU. CAT5 STP protects against cross talk, Radio Frequency
Interference (RFI), and/or Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI). STP protects ISDN signal
data while being transmitted through the cable and keeps the cable itself from emitting EMI
and RFI.
Important!
To avoid earth loops, connect only the RPTU end of the shielded cable to earth.
The DK earths the CAT5 cable shield between the DK and NTE at the RPTU
RJ-45 jack. You do not have to connect the NTE to earth.
Shield continuity must be maintained from the RPTU to the NTE, particularly if using
extension connecting cables. Keep the cable as short as possible between the NTE and the
RPTU.
Toshiba provides a cable kit with the RPTU, (Part No. 093-1050/02).
A detailed pinout diagram for the RJ-45 jacks and the modular cords/adaptors is shown in
Figure 3-17.
Cable Installation
The RPTU PCB is shipped with a cable kit (Part No.093-1050/02) for connection of the
RPTU to to the NTE. Install the kit as shown in Figure 3-16.
