Fault Finding
Power Supply Test
9-4
Strata DK40 I&M Spring 1999
Refer to the Strata DK40 Programming Manual or DK Library CD-Rom for more details.
Power Supply Test
To test the DK40 power supply see the Power Supply Installation section in Chapter 2 –
DK40 Installation.
Station Cable Continuity Check
Voltmeter Test
Use a voltmeter to check cable continuity between the DK40 KSU cabinet, digital or
electronic telephone and DSS console. Make tests at the modular block. Refer to Tables 9-1
and 9-2.
➤ To perform the voltmeter test
1. Refer to Chapter 2 – DK40 Installation and Chapter 4 – DK40 Universal Slot PCB
Wiring for appropriate MDF wiring diagrams.
2. Disconnect the digital or electronic telephone, DSS console, HDCB, or DDCB.
3. Using a DC voltmeter, measure between the wires of the two pairs to verify the
readings shown in Table 9-1 for digital telephone ports. Refer to Table 9-2
for
electronic telephone ports. The reading will be a plus or minus depending on meter
lead placement.
4. An improper reading indicates an open, crossed or shorted wire. See “Power Supply
Replacement” on Page 2-21.
5. For the MDF-to-telephone (digital or electronic) cable, use an ohmmeter to make a
more precise check.
