KSU Mounting Considerations
DK40 Installation
Strata DK40 I&M Manual Spring 1999
2-5
Refer to the Strata DK40 Programming Manual or DK Library CD-Rom for more details.
CAUTION!
Lack of proper earth may cause improper operation and, in extreme
cases, system failure.
AC Power and “Protective Earth” Test
Test the “protected earth” for continuity by measuring the resistance of the earth. This will
test the earth connection and can be carried out by using a commercially available earth loop
impedance meter. The result of the reading of this test must be less than one ohm.
CAUTION!
If the reading is greater than one ohm, the system is not adequately
earthed.
If the above test show the system to be inadequately earthed, the condition should be
corrected by a qualified electrician before the system is connected.
KSU Mounting Considerations
The Base KSU and the optional Expansion KSU are both designed to be mounted on a wall
or other vertical surface. Toshiba recommends using method 1 or 2 (see Figure 2-4).
Prior to Installation
1. Loosen the screws on the front cover and the side cover of the Base KSU, remove the
covers (see Figure 2-5). Figure 2-6 details the interior.
2. Place the BATT jumper plug (SW2) to the ON position (see Figure 2-6).
3. Ensure that SW1 is set for A (A law operation).
4. Install an Exchange line board, either the TCOU or the TBSU onto the TMAU board
(see Figure 2-7).
The TCOU provides four loop start Exchange lines.
The TBSU provides 2 ISDN BRI Circuits (4 B channels) TE/NT switchable.
5. Set Exchange line card switches.
TCOU: Set the TCOU PAD switches (SW400-SW475) to the appropriate position (see
Figure 2-19). The factory setting is NORMAL. If Exchange lines are connected to a
PBX or are in close proximity to the local exchange the PAD position may be required.
TBSU: Set the TBSU PAD switches to the appropriate position for NT or TE operation.
(See Figure 2-21).
WARNING! Hazardous voltages that may cause death or injury are
exposed during the following test. Use great care when
working with AC power line voltage.
