3.15 CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Test
To execute the CD-ROM/DVD test, select 13 from the DIAGNOSTICS TEST MENU, press
Enter and follow the directions on the screen. The CD-ROM/DVD test contains six subtests
that test the computer’s CD-ROM functions.
NOTE: First make sure the CD-ROM driver (CDRNEW.COM) is installed and insert the
test media CD (TOSHIBA CD-ROM TEST DISK (ZA1217P01/P000204190)). For the
DVD-ROM test, insert the media CD (Toshiba-EMI TEST DISK TSD-1).
Subtest 01 Sequential Read
This subtest is a sequential reading of one block units (2K bytes) of all the
logical addresses.
Subtest 02 Read Specified Address
This subtest reads one-block data from a specified address.
Subtest 03 Random Address/Data
This subtest reads one-block data and multi-block data from random addresses
200 times.
Subtest 04 Playback Music (CD only)
NOTE: The TOSHIBA CD-ROM TEST DISK (ZA1217P01/P000204190) and the Toshiba-
EMI DVD-ROM TEST DISK TSD-1 cannot be used for Subtest 04. For this test, use an
ordinary music CD.
This subtest reads track data from a specified track and plays the sound.
Subtest 07 RW 1Point W/R/C
This subtest is IDE busmaster test.
