8.1 Preventive
Maintenance
Observe all preventive maintenance procedures in the following
pages to properly maintain this equipment.
The following preventive maintenance advisories must be observed:
1. Regular service and maintenance MUST be performed only by
STERIS or a STERIS-trained technician. Any work performed by
inexperienced or unqualified persons or the installation of
unauthorized parts could cause personal injury, invalidate the
warranty or result in costly damage.
2. Under no circumstances should the equipment be serviced
without referring to the maintenance manual. The maintenance
manual can be purchased through STERIS Customer Service.
3. The unit's Interval Based Check List (IBCL) should be
referenced to ensure unit maintenance is not neglected and is
performed at the intervals specified. The IBCL is included in the
maintenance manual.
4. The maintenance manual includes an Illustrated Parts
Breakdown (IPB) which can be used to identify replacement
components in regard to:
• item location within the unit and or larger assembly
• part number
• quantity
The maintenance manual can be purchased through STERIS
Customer Service.
5. Preventive Maintenance is essential in keeping the equipment in
optimal working condition. STERIS recommends establishing an
annual maintenance agreement with STERIS service.
NOTE: Preventive Maintenance is not covered under warranty.
Important: Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout.
Inspection Frequency: The sterilizer must be inspected by a
qualified service technician at least twice each year while referring to
the M
AINTENANCE MANUAL. (Actual frequency of equipment use and
local conditions may increase the number of required inspections.)
Operator inspections and procedures must be made on a daily,
weekly or as needed basis as indicated in this section and in the
IBCL.
WARNING – SHOCK AND BURN HAZARD: Regularly scheduled preventive maintenance is required
for safe and reliable operation of this equipment. Contact your STERIS Service Representative to
schedule preventive maintenance.
