• Although it is not required, it is recommended that interfaces on dierent routers with the same VRID have the same SPF
conguration. This ensures that the SPF behavior is retained after a failover. Dierent VRIDs, however, can have dierent SPF
congurations.

Under the VRRP-E VRID conguration level, there is an option to enable short-path forwarding. To enable short-path forwarding , enter
the following commands.
device (config)# router vrrp-extended
device (config)# interface ve 10
device (config-vif-10)# ip-address 10.10.10.25/24
device (config-vif-10)# ip vrrp-extended vrid 10
device (config-vif-10-vrid-10)# backup priority 50
