Ifafailurethatcauseslossofcontrolsuchassteer-
ing,servicebrakes,orengineoccurs,stopthemachine
motionasquicklyaspossible,removethestarterkeyor
disconnectswitchkey.PlaceaDONOTOPERATEtag
onthemachine,andkeepitsecurelyparkeduntilthe
malfunctioniscorrectedorthemachinecanbesafely
towed.

Understandthemachinelimitations,andkeepthema-
chineundercontrol.

Operateanddrivethemachinewithcareandatspeed
compatiblewithconditions.Useextracautionwhenop-
eratingoverroughground,onslopes,andwhenturn-
ing.

ditches,undergroundlines,trees,cliffs,overheadelec-
tricalwires,orareaswherethereisdangerofaslide.

derortoreachthroughthemachineanditsequipment

devicesrequiredonthemachine.Provideanescortfor
roadingwhererequired.

Onmachineswithindependentlyoperatedwheel
brakes,lockthebrakepedalstogetherwhenroading
toprovideequalizedbrakeapplication.
•
Usetherecommendedtransportdeviceswhenroad-
ingthemachine.Properlights,ashers,signals,and
beaconsmayberequired.Usereectiveslowmoving
vehiclesignswherenecessary.Followlocal,state,and
federalregulations.

Usetheapproveddrawbarand/orattachmentpoint
whenusingthemachinefortowing.Ifacableorchain
isused,keeppeopleawayfromthetowline.
•
Beforeyouoperateatnight,checkthatalllampsillumi-
nate.
•
Ifyourmachinehasacab,makesurethatallwindows
arecleanandthatthewindshieldwipersandwashers
workcorrectly.

Engineexhaustfumescancausedeath.Ifyouoperate
thismachineinanenclosedarea,makesurethereis
ventilationtoreplacetheexhaustfumeswithfreshair.
•
Checkallcontrolsinaclearareaandmakesurethe
machineisoperatingcorrectly.Dust,fog,smoke,etc.,
candecreaseyourvisionandcauseanaccident.Stop
themachineordecreasethespeeduntilyoucansee.
•
Contactwithhighvoltagepowerlines,undergroundca-
bles,etc.,cancauseseriousinjuryordeathfromelec-
trocution.
•
Beforeyoudriveoroperateinanareawithhighvolt-
agelines,cables,orapowerstation,tellthepoweror
utilitycompanywhatyouaregoingtodo.YouMUST
HAVETHEPOWERDISCONNECTEDORKEEPA
SAFEWORKINGDISTANCEfromthelines,cables,or
powerstation.

Keepallpartsofthemachineasafedistanceawayfrom
thepowersource.Youmustalsoknowanyfederal,
state/provincial,orlocalsafetycodesorregulationsthat
applytothejobsite.
•
Ifapartofthemachinetoucheshighvoltagepower:
1.WarnotherworkersNOTTOTOUCHTHEMA-
CHINEandtostayawayfromthemachine.
2.Ifyoucanbreakcontact,reversetheoperationthat
causedcontactwiththehighvoltagepower,and
movethemachineawayfromthedangerarea.If
youcannotbreakcontactstayinthemachineuntil
theutilitycompanyde-energizesthelineandtells
youthatthepowerisoff.
•
Ifyouhaveextremeconditions,suchasare,etc.,and
youareforcedtoleavethemachine,donotstepoffthe
machine.Jumpasfarfromthemachineaspossible
withyourfeettogetheranddonottouchthegroundwith
yourhands.
•
Donotoperatethemachineifyoudonotfeelwell.This
canbedangerousforyouandforthepeoplearound
you.
