Beforeyouoperatethemachine,periodicallytestthepark-
ingbrakefunctions.
NOTE:Testtheparkingbrakeatamaximumofevery250
hours.
1.Toreleasetheparkingbrake,allthefollowingarere-
quired:
A.PushtheParkingBrakeswitchtothereleaseposi-
tion.
B.Servicebrakedepressedindicatingbrakelights.
C.TransmissionshifterpositionedfromNtoForRfor
asecond,andbacktoN.
D.Servicebrakedepressedindicatingbrakelights.
Adequateservicebrakepressuretostopthema-
chine.
2.Theparkingbrakewillengageunderthefollowingcon-
ditions.Alwayswearyourseatbeltintheeventthat
theparkingbrakewouldunexpectedlyengage.
A.Lossofservicebrakepressureinbothaxles.
B.Lossofsystemelectricalpower(keyOFF).
C.ParkingBrakeswitchinengagedposition.
3.Totestthesefunctions:
A.Startonaclearlevelsurface.
B.Withstep1,AthroughCcomplete,starttheengine,
andreleasetheparkingbrake.Theredwarning
lightshouldbeout.
C.TurntheengineOFF.TurnthekeyswitchtotheON
position.WiththeengineOFF ,theparkingbrake
lightshouldcomeON.
D.ReleasetheparkingbrakeusingBandCinstep1.
Makesuretheparkingbrakelightisout.
E.Pumptheservicebrakes,thelowbrakepressure
warninglightshouldcomeON.Continuetopump
theservicebrakes.Pumpuntiltheparkingbrake
lightcomesON,pumpthebrakesthreemoretimes.
Thiscouldrequireasmanyasfortybrakepumps.
