Chapter 28 Configuring IP Unicast Routing
Configuring EIGRP
Use the no forms of these commands to disable the feature or return the setting to the default value.
Configuring EIGRP Interfaces
Other optional EIGRP parameters can be configured on an interface basis.
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to configure EIGRP interfaces:
Step 4
eigrp log-neighbor-changes (Optional) Enable logging of EIGRP neighbor changes to monitor
routing system stability.
Step 5
metric weights tos k1 k2 k3 k4 k5 (Optional) Adjust the EIGRP metric. Although the defaults have
been carefully determined to provide excellent operation in most
networks, you can adjust them.
Caution Determining metrics is complex and is not
recommended without guidance from an experienced
network designer.
Step 6
offset list [access-list number | name] {in | out}
offset [type number]
(Optional) Apply an offset list to routing metrics to increase
incoming and outgoing metrics to routes learned through EIGRP.
You can limit the offset list with an access list or an interface.
Step 7
no auto-summary (Optional) Disable automatic summarization of subnet routes into
network-level routes.
Step 8
ip summary-address eigrp
autonomous-system-number address mask
(Optional) Configure a summary aggregate.
Step 9
end Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 10
show ip protocols Verify your entries.
Step 11
copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
Command Purpose
Command Purpose
Step 1
configure terminal Enter global configuration mode.
Step 2
interface interface-id Enter interface configuration mode, and specify the Layer 3
interface to configure.
Step 3
ip bandwidth-percent eigrp percent (Optional) Configure the percentage of bandwidth that can
be used by EIGRP on an interface. The default is 50 percent.
Step 4
ip summary-address eigrp
autonomous-system-number address mask
(Optional) Configure a summary aggregate address for a
specified interface (not usually necessary if auto-summary is
enabled).
Step 5
ip hello-interval eigrp autonomous-system-number
seconds
(Optional) Change the hello time interval for an EIGRP
routing process. The range is 1 to 65535 seconds. The
default is 60 seconds for low-speed NBMA networks and 5
seconds for all other networks.
