What to do if PoE mode LED blinks amber on Cisco Catalyst 3750 Switch?
    • B
      Brandon TaylorJul 29, 2025
If the PoE mode LED is blinking amber on your Cisco Switch, it indicates that at least one PoE port has a fault, or power has been denied to one or more PoE ports. This often occurs when noncompliant cabling or powered devices are connected to a PoE port. To resolve this, use the Mode button to check the PoE status for all ports. Affected port LEDs will blink amber or alternate green and amber. If a port LED blinks amber, there is a PoE fault, and the problematic cable or device should be removed. If a port status LED is alternating green and amber, try connecting the powered device to an external AC power source.

How to troubleshoot poor performance on Cisco Switch?
    • L
      Lisa FordAug 3, 2025
If you are experiencing poor performance or excessive errors with your Cisco Switch, it could be due to several reasons. One common cause is a duplex autonegotiation mismatch. To address this, verify that the autonegotiation settings are the same at both ends. Another potential cause is exceeding cabling distance limits or encountering issues indicated by port statistics. Check port statistics for excessive frame check sequence (FCS), late-collision, or alignment errors. If distance is the issue, reduce the cable length. Also, a bad adapter in the attached device could be the reason. Run an adapter card diagnostic utility to check. Wait 30 seconds for the port LED to turn green.

What to do if Cisco Catalyst 3750 Switch port is in error-disabled state after SFP module or XENPAK module inserted?
    • J
      jeffreymartinAug 7, 2025
If your Cisco Switch port is in an error-disabled state after inserting an SFP module or XENPAK module, it might be due to a bad or non-Cisco-approved module. To resolve this, remove the current module and replace it with a Cisco-approved one. Afterwards, use the `errdisable recovery cause gbic-invalid` global configuration command to verify the port status and set a time interval for recovery from the error-disabled state.

What to do if SFP module or XENPAK module is not recognized by Cisco Catalyst 3750?
    • T
      Tommy MathisAug 11, 2025
If your SFP module or XENPAK module is not being recognized by the Cisco Switch, it might be installed upside down or not properly snapped into the slot. First, verify that the module is correctly oriented. Then, remove the module and inspect both the connector, the module itself, and the module slot for any physical damage. Finally, try replacing the current module with a known good one to see if the issue is with the module itself.

Why is my powered device not getting power from Cisco Catalyst 3750 PoE port?
    • C
      Carol TannerAug 16, 2025
If a powered device is connected to a PoE port on your Cisco Switch but is not receiving power, the switch might lack sufficient power capacity or PoE might be disabled on that port. Use the Mode button to check the PoE status for all ports. If the port status LED alternates green and amber, connect the device to an external AC power source. If the port status LED is amber, configure the switch port PoE setting to Auto, as PoE is enabled by default.

How to fix unreadable characters on Cisco Catalyst 3750 Switch management console?
    • R
      Robert BarnesAug 20, 2025
If you see unreadable characters on the management console of your Cisco Switch, it is likely due to an incorrect baud rate setting. To fix this, reset the emulation software to 9600 baud.

How to troubleshoot no stack link on Cisco Catalyst 3750?
    • M
      Mark CummingsAug 25, 2025
If there is no stack link between switches or a high error rate between switches in the stack, it could be due to a poor cable connection, a faulty StackWise cable, or a damaged StackWise port. Ensure the thumb screws on the StackWise cables are secure. Remove the StackWise cable and inspect it and the StackWise port for bent pins or damaged connectors. If the cable is defective, replace it with a known good cable.
