– Never clean the inside of containers or power supply system components with cloths that may leave
deposits.
– The cistern capacity (figure at the side) must allow intervals between refueling not to be too long. A
capacityof3000litersissufficientforanaveragesizedcompany.
– Thestoragecisternmustbecoveredandplacedonasupportthatishighenoughtoallowrefuelingby
meansofgravity.Alargebasinmustbeplacedunderthecisternincaseoffuelleakage.Thecisternmust
haveanopeninglargeenoughtoallowsomeonetoaccessitforcleaningpurposes.
– Thedeliverytapmustbelargeratthebottominordertotrapanydeposits;itmustalsobeequippedwith
aremovablefilter.Thecisternshouldbetilted40mmpermetertowardsthesedimentationdrainplug.
– Thefuelbarrels(figureattheside)mustbecoveredwhenstoredtopreventwaterinfiltration.Thebarrels
shouldbeslightlytiltedslightly,sothatanywaterwillruntotheupperrim.Thefuelbarrelsshouldnotbe
storedfortoolongbeforebeingused.
– Ifthebarrelsarekeptoutside,theircapsmustbetightlyclosedtopreventwaterfromseepingin.
– Afterrefuelingthestoragecisternsorbarrels,itisrecommendedtoallowthefueltosetforatleasttwo
hours,therebyallowinganysedimentofwaterandimpuritiestobedepositedbeforethefuelisused.
11.5.3 Refueling
Whenrefueling(fig.1507241)itisnecessaryto:
– Parkthevehicleandturnofftheengine
– Openthefuelcap
– Refuel
– Closethefuelcap

11.5.4 Fuel tank: Cleaning
Withthevehicleinthemaintenanceposition:
– Placeasuitablecontainerunderthefueltank.
– Remove the cap from under the tank (fig. 1507251) and
drainthefueltoremoveimpuritiespresentinthetank.
– Putbackthecapandfillwithcleanfuel.
