Configuring VLAN Interfaces
– 1129 –
COMMAND USAGE
Access mode is mutually exclusive with VLAN trunking (see the vlan-
trunking command). If VLAN trunking is enabled on an interface, then that
interface cannot be set to access mode, and vice versa.
EXAMPLE
The following shows how to set the configuration mode to port 1, and then
set the switchport mode to hybrid:
Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/1
Console(config-if)#switchport mode hybrid
Console(config-if)#

COMMAND USAGE
â—† When using Access mode, and an interface is assigned to a new VLAN,
its PVID is automatically set to the identifier for that VLAN. When using
Hybrid mode, the PVID for an interface can be set to any VLAN for
which it is an untagged member.
â—† If acceptable frame types is set to all or switchport mode is set to
hybrid, the PVID will be inserted into all untagged frames entering the
ingress port.
EXAMPLE
The following example shows how to set the PVID for port 1 to VLAN 3:
Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/1
Console(config-if)#switchport native vlan 3
Console(config-if)#
