Multicast VLAN Registration for IPv6
– 660 –
CONFIGURING MVR6
DOMAIN SETTINGS
Use the Multicast > MVR6 (Configure Domain) page to enable MVR6
globally on the switch, and select the VLAN that will serve as the sole
channel for common multicast streams supported by the service provider.
CLI REFERENCES
"MVR for IPv6" on page 1268
PARAMETERS
These parameters are displayed:
Domain ID– An independent multicast domain. (Range: 1-5)
MVR6 Status – When MVR6 is enabled on the switch, any multicast
data associated with an MVR6 group is sent from all designated source
ports, to all receiver ports that have registered to receive data from
that multicast group. (Default: Disabled)
MVR6 VLAN – Identifier of the VLAN that serves as the channel for
streaming multicast services using MVR6. MVR6 source ports should be
configured as members of the MVR6 VLAN (see "Adding Static Members
to VLANs" on page 200), but MVR6 receiver ports should not be
manually configured as members of this VLAN. (Default: 1)
MVR6 Running Status – Indicates whether or not all necessary
conditions in the MVR6 environment are satisfied. Running status is
Active as long as MVR6 is enabled, the specified MVR6 VLAN exists, and
a source port with a valid link has been configured (see "Configuring
MVR6 Interface Status" on page 664).
MVR6 Current Learned Groups – The number of MVR6 groups
currently assigned to this domain.
Forwarding Priority – The CoS priority assigned to all multicast traffic
forwarded into this domain. (Range: 0-7, where 7 is the highest
priority)
This parameter can be used to set a high priority for low-latency
multicast traffic such as a video-conference, or to set a low priority for
normal multicast traffic not sensitive to latency.
Upstream Source IPv6 – The source IPv6 address assigned to all
MVR6 control packets sent upstream on the specified domain. This
parameter must be a full IPv6 address including the network prefix and
host address bits. By default, all MVR6 reports sent upstream use a null
source IP address.
All IPv6 addresses must be according to RFC 2373 “IPv6 Addressing
Architecture,” using 8 colon-separated 16-bit hexadecimal values. One
double colon may be used in the address to indicate the appropriate
number of zeros required to fill the undefined fields. (Note that the IP
address ff02::X is reserved.)
