ip domain-lookup This command enables DNS host name-to-address translation. Use the no form to
disable DNS.
Syntax
[no] ip domain-lookup

Command Usage
â—† At least one name server must be specified before DNS can be enabled.
â—† If one or more name servers are configured, but DNS is not yet enabled and the
switch receives a DHCP packet containing a DNS field with a list of DNS servers,
then the switch will automatically enable DNS host name-to-address
translation.
â—† If all name servers are deleted, DNS will automatically be disabled.
Example
This example enables DNS and then displays the configuration.
Console(config)#ip domain-lookup
Console(config)#end
Console#show dns
Domain Lookup Status:
DNS Enabled
Default Domain Name:
sample.com
Domain Name List:
sample.com.jp
sample.com.uk
Name Server List:
