Once the number

is shown, the engine can no longer be
started.
The DEF reducing agent is contaminated, diluted or is not
compliant with ISO 22241.
E Have the DEF tank cleaned and refilled at an autho-
rized Sprinter Dealer as soon as possible.
The exhaust gas aftertreatment system is defective or an
emissions-relevant malfunction has occurred. This mal-
function or fault can damage the exhaust gas aftertreat-
ment.
E Consult an authorized Sprinter Dealer immediately.

Battery/
Alternator

G Warning
The battery is not being charged. Possible causes:
O malfunctioning alternator
O torn poly-V-belt
E Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
E Check the poly-V-belt.
If it is torn: do not drive any further. Consult the near-
est authorized Sprinter Dealer.
If it is not damaged: have your vehicle checked at an
authorized Sprinter Dealer.

Brake fluid

G Warning
There is insufficient brake fluid in the fluid reservoir.
E Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
E Check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir
(e page 161).
If the fluid is below the MIN mark:
E Do not drive any further.
E Do not top up the brake fluid. This will not rectify
the fault.
E Consult an authorized Sprinter Dealer.
