Jump-starting connection point on the left-
hand side of the air cleaner
E Remove the positive terminal cover
from the donor battery.
Example
E Connect positive terminal of donor bat-
tery 2 to jump-starting connection
point 5 with the jumper cable. Start
with the donor battery.
E Using red positive terminal clamp 1 of
the jumper cable, slide the red protec-
tive cap of the jump-starting connec-
tion point back with a clockwise turn
and connect the positive terminal
clamp of the jumper cable to the posi-
tive terminal of jump-starting connec-
tion point 5.
i Do not connect the jumper cable to the aux-
iliary battery in the engine compartment. This is
not suitable for jump-starting operations.
E Run the other vehicle's engine at idling
speed.
E Connect negative terminal 3 of the
donor battery to ground contact 4 of
your own vehicle.
Start with the donor battery.
E Start the engine.
i You can now reactivate electrical consum-
ers, with the exception of lights.
E Disconnect the jumper cable from neg-
ative terminal 3 of the battery and
ground contact 4 first, then from pos-
itive terminal 2 of the battery and
jump-starting connection point 5.
The red protective cap springs back to
its initial position when terminal
clamp 1 is removed from the jump-
starting connection point.
i You can now switch on the lights.
E Have the battery checked at an
authorized Sprinter Dealer.
G Warning
Due to the gases which escape from batter-
ies, there is a risk of acid burns when jump-
starting a vehicle. Do not lean over the batter-
ies during a jump-start.
