Disconnecting the auxiliary battery
E Remove the key from the ignition lock.
E Open the hood (e page 156).
Auxiliary battery in the engine compart-
ment
E Loosen the negative terminal of the
battery first and remove it so that the
negative terminal cannot come into
contact with the positive terminal.
E Remove the cover from the positive ter-
minal.
E Loosen the positive terminal and re-
move it.
Starter battery
E Disconnect the battery (e page 267).
E Pull vent hose with connection
angle 2 from connection 1 of the
gas release cover.
E Loosen the bolts of retainer 3 pre-
venting the battery from moving
around.
E Pull retainer 3 upward and slide the
battery out of its anchorage in the di-
rection of travel.
E Fold the clip upward and remove the
battery from the battery recess.
Auxiliary battery in the engine compart-
ment
E Disconnect the battery (e page 268).
E Unscrew the bolts preventing the bat-
tery from moving around in the engine
compartment.
E Remove the battery retainer and take
out the battery.
