Technical data
Fuel consumption depends on:
O the vehicle version
O the style of driving
O the operating conditions
O the fuel grade used
The vehicle will use more fuel than usual in
the following conditions:
O at very low temperatures
O in urban traffic
O on short trips
O when towing a trailer
O when driving with a heavy load
O in mountainous terrain
Observe the advice in the "Protection of
the environment" section to keep fuel con-
sumption low (
e page 19).
The following components of the different
vehicle versions influence fuel consump-
tion:
O tire size, tire tread, tire pressure, tire
condition
O body
O drive unit gear ratios
O additional equipment (e.g. air-condi-
tioning system, auxiliary heating sys-
tem)
Details concerning fuel consumption are
recorded in the on-board computer; use
the steering wheel buttons to call up the
Trip computer menu (
e page 97).
Depending on the vehicle version, the DEF
consumption for the vehicle is either:
O approximately 2322 MPG (0.10 l/
100 km) for version 2500
O approximately 1720 MPG (0.14 l/
100 km) for version 3500
The consumption figure specified is an av-
erage of urban and extra-urban journeys.
The consumption figure does not refer to
an individual vehicle, but is intended to
permit comparison between different vehi-
cle types.
Like fuel consumption, DEF consumption
varies significantly depending on driving
style and operating conditions. Therefore,
the actual consumption figures for your ve-
hicle may deviate from the consumption
figures determined.
The vehicle consumes a maximum of
1 US qt (1.0 l) oil per 620 miles
(1000 km), depending on your driving
style.
Engine oil consumption may even be high-
er if:
O the vehicle is new
O you mainly operate the vehicle under
arduous operating conditions
O you often drive at high engine speeds
Regular maintenance is one of the precon-
ditions for moderate rates of consumption.
The engine oil consumption can only be
judged after a lengthy distance has been
covered.

O efficient use of fuel by the engine
O the style of driving adopted
O other non-technical factors such as envi-
ronmental influences or road conditions
