i If your vehicle is centrally locked, this could
hinder rescue operations from the outside in the
event of an accident.
When the automatic locking when driving func-
tion is activated, there is a risk of being locked
out if the vehicle is towed. For this reason, al-
ways deactivate the automatic locking when
driving function:
O before having the vehicle towed
O if you are only leaving the vehicle for a brief
period
If activated, automatic locking is deactivat-
ed if the vehicle is unlocked or locked us-
ing the central locking switch.
Automatic locking is reactivated after the
ignition is switched off or if a door is
opened with the vehicle stationary.
Activating the automatic locking
function
E Close all the doors.
E Turn the key to position 1 or 2 in the ig-
nition lock.
E For the entire vehicle: press upper
part 1 of the switch until the indicator
lamp in the switch flashes four times.
E Only for the sliding doors and the
rear doors: press upper part 2 of the
switch until the indicator lamp in the
switch flashes four times.
Deactivating the automatic locking
function
E Close all the doors.
E Turn the key to position 1 or 2 in the ig-
nition lock.
E For the entire vehicle: press upper
part 1 of the switch until the indicator
lamp in the switch flashes twice.
E Only for the sliding doors and the
rear doors: press lower part 2 of the
switch until the indicator lamp in the
switch flashes twice.
You can open the driver's/co-driver's door
from the inside at any time, even if it is
locked. Open the door only when condi-
tions are safe to do so.
E Pull door handle 1.
Locking knob 2 pops up. The door
opens.
Opening the driver's or co-driver's
door from the inside
G Warning
Make sure that nobody can become trapped
when you close or open the doors. Take par-
ticular care, especially if children are near the
vehicle. You could otherwise injure yourself
and others.
