Ultrasound not functioning properly.
îš„ Transducer not properly connected to
monitor.
îš„ Transducer placement.
îš„ Too little gel applied to transducer.
îš„ Defective transducer.
îš„ Active fetus or mother. Fetal arrhythmia
or hiccups. Extreme maternal obesity.
îš„ No signal.
îš„ Service required.
îš„ Ensure that transducer is securely
attached to monitor.
îš„ Wait before moving transducer; FHR
often returns. Reposition transducer.
îš„ Apply more gel.
îš„ Replace transducer.
îš„ Use alternate technique.
îš„ Auscultate FHR.
îš„ Call Biomedical Engineering
Department.
Static noise on ultrasound.
îš„ Active fetus.
îš„ Environmental noise.
îš„ Maternal movement.
îš„ Defective transducer.
îš„ Reposition transducer.
îš„ Keep sheets and gown off transducer.
Do not hold transducer with hand.

Monitor is set for 30 BPM/cm vertical scale
and 20 BPM/cm vertical scale strip chart
recorder paper is being used (or vice
versa).
