6-6-1 Check Installation
• Before trying to use the scanner, ensure that all cable connections are secure.
• Power up the AWS workstation and wait until the login prompt appears.
• The Bar Code Scanner beeps when it initalizes. The sound of the initializing beep is different to the
that when scanning a bar code.
6-6-2 Scan a Bar Code Symbol
1. Go to the Patient List on the AWS Browser. Create a new patient, and click in a field of the Medical
Procedure Card.
2. Hold the scanner handle horizontally directly over the bar code printed below.
3. Press the scanner trigger located below the scanner handle; the scanner red LED beam lights. The
scanner has successfully scanned the symbol if:
- You hear a beep.
- The LED beam turns off.
