2.17 CPR Release Malfunction
1. Pull and hold the CPR release handle. The head section goes into the full flat position. (When
unoccupied, the head section may require slight downward hand pressure to rotate completely into
the full flat position.)

Check the adjustment of the CPR function (see Procedure 4.7 on page 4-14). If this
solves the problem, go to “Final Actions” on page 2-9. If this does not solve the
problem, go to Step 2.
2. Visually examine the head drive motor assembly for damage or missing parts. The head drive motor
assembly is in good working condition.

Replace the head drive motor assembly (see Procedure 4.6 on page 4-12). If this
solves the problem, go to “Final Actions” on page 2-9. If this does not solve the
problem, go to Step 3.
3. Another part of the bed interferes with the CPR release mechanism.
Yes No
If the head section still does not release, contact Hill-Rom Technical Support.
4. Take appropriate actions to eliminate the interference. This solves the problem.
