Cabling Guidelines
Cabling ATA/100 RAID Devices
To connect cables from an Integrated ATA/100 RAID controller to an internal ATA
hard drive:
1. Install the device. Refer to “Installing a Hard Drive into a Removable Media
Bay” or “Installing a Tape Drive or Other Removable Media Device,” in
Chapter 3 for instructions.
2. Be sure that the jumper on the drive or device is set to Cable Select (CS).
3. Secure the next available cable connector to the hard drive or ATA device.
Figure 4-10 and Table 4-4 show the cabling configuration when four ATA hard
drives are installed. If fewer than four drives are installed, then follow this
cabling sequence.
IMPORTANT: Do not connect devices other than hard drives to the connectors on the
ATA/100 RAID controller.
