The air lters in the line card covers will prevent dust and other parcles entering the chassis. If
an empty line card slot is not covered, dust and other parcles may accumulate on the connector
pins of the installed line cards and SFBs and aect the performance of the router.
To remove a line card from an MX10004 router chassis:
1. Place the anstac bag or anstac mat on a at, stable surface.
2. Wrap and fasten one end of the ESD grounding strap around your bare wrist and connect the other
end of the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. An ESD point is located above the status
LED panel on the front of the router chassis. See Figure 89 on page 195.
3. Label the cables connected to each port on the line card so that you can reconnect the cables to the
correct ports.
4. Issue the following CLI command to take the line card oine:
request chassis fpc slot slot-number offline
5. Unscrew the line card from the chassis by connually turning the handles to the le unl the line
card is fully unseated. See Figure 94 on page 199.

6. Using the handles, slide the line card halfway out of the chassis.
