Adaptivemode(2‐64s)
Adaptivemodeisthemeter’sintelligentintegrationmode,inwhichthetimeintervaliscurrentlyadjusted.Thismode
combinesthelong batterylifetime obtainedin Normalmodewiththe highmeasuringand calculationresolution
obtainedinFastmode.
Whenthethermalsystemisstable,i.e.runs
atstableflowandpower,themeterwilluseatimeintervalof64s.
MULTICAL®603continuouslymeasuresifflowandpowerhavechanged,andifthisisthecase,reducestheinterval.
Dependingonthechange,themetercanreducetheintegrationintervalto2seconds,whichmeans
thatthemeter
calculates accumulatedvolumeand energyevery 2seconds.Thereby,higherresolution and higherprecision are
obtainedduringperiodswithchangesinthesystem.MULTICAL®603’sadaptivealgorithmreactstoflowchangesdown
to1%.
Forapplicationswithtwoflowsensors,itisworthnotingthatMULTICAL®603
onlymeasureschangesinflowand
powerofV1andnotofbothV1andV2.ThismeansthattheintegrationofregistersrelatedtoV1andV2,
respectivelytakesplaceatthesametimeandistime‐based.Inadaptivemode,theintegrationintervalisonly
adjustedaccordingtothechangesofV1.
Whenthesystemisstable,themetergraduallyreturnstothe64s.interval.MULTICAL®603reactsquicklytochanges
inthesystembylowering
thetimeinterval;however,itgraduallyreturnstothetimeintervalof64s.asthesystem
becomesstable.Thisisillustratedinthefigurebelow.
Thus, in adaptivemode MULTICAL® 603 measures athigh resolution during periods with changes inthe system
requiringaccuratemeasurementsandsavesbatterypower
duringperiodswithnochangesinthethermalsystem.
Adaptivemodeisrecommendedforallsystemsincludingthosewithtapwaterexchanger.
Normalmode(32s)
Innormalmodetheintegrationintervalissetat32seconds,whichmeansthatthemetercalculatesaccumulated
volumeandenergyevery32seconds.
Normalmodeisrecommendedforsystemswithhotwatertankandsimilarsystemsinwhichchangesarenottaking
placetooquickly.
