Wheel Lean Cylinder
1. Park the grader on a level surface in a designated
area where oil does not touch or run off onto the
ground.
2. Ensure the wheel lean cylinder is retracted. Engage
the park brake and shut down the engine.
3. It is recommended that you use a hydraulic lift if
available, or use jack stands on a solid, at surface
to raise the front end (enough to tilt axle). Block the
remaining wheels using sturdy wheel chocks.
4. Disconnect, plug and tag the hydraulic hoses, being
very careful to prevent any contamination when
plugging the hydraulic hose ttings.
NOTE: Inspect the hydraulic ttings. Replace any
damaged or worn ttings.
5. Remove the two (2) cotter and cylinder pins on the
back side of one of the wheel lean cylinder. (Figure
4-46)

6. Carefully slide the wheel lean cylinder from the
frame to remove it. Clean the area thoroughly
before installing new cylinder.
7. Position the new wheel lean cylinder into
place. Insert the cylinder and cotter pins. (It is
recommended that you use new cotter pins.)
8. Reconnect the hydraulic hoses according to the
tags for correct reconnection. Using a grease gun,
lubricate the rods on each cylinder.
9. Start the engine and idle for a few minutes to ensure
the hydraulic oil has warmed, check wheel lean
operation, and check for leaks.
Scarifier Lift Cylinder
1. Park the grader on a level surface in a designated
area where oil does not touch or run off onto the
ground.
2. Lower the scarier to the ground. Engage the
park brake, shut down the engine, and place wheel
chocks on wheels for safety.
3. Use a sling or other means of supporting the
scarier lift cylinder.
4. Disconnect, plug and tag the hydraulic hoses, being
very careful to prevent any contamination when
plugging the hydraulic hose ttings.
NOTE: Inspect the hydraulic ttings. Replace any
damaged or worn ttings.

5. Remove the hex nut and bolt from the scarier lift
cylinder. (Figure 5-47)
6. Carefully slide the cylinder from the frame to remove
it. Clean the area thoroughly before installing new
cylinder.
7. Position the new scarier lift cylinder into place and
reinstall nut and bolt.
8. Reconnect the hydraulic hoses according to the
tags for correct reconnection.
9. Repeat Steps 3 - 8 on the other scarier lift cylinder.
10. Using a grease gun, lubricate the rods on each
cylinder.
11. Start the engine and idle for a few minutes to ensure
the hydraulic oil has warmed in the system.
12. Raise and lower the scarier several times to
ensure proper operation and check for leaks.
