If the DEF tank level has fallen to 0 percent, a STOP
warning symbol will also illuminate and ash red. At this
level, there is no ability for DPF regeneration or DEF
injection into the exhaust system, therefore no ability to
cool the DEF injector as needed. The DEF injector may
now be damaged by heat and require replacement
from your authorized dealer.
DEF Thaw Control Mode: Sensors on the DEF tank
also detect the ambient air temperature within seconds
of starting the engine. If the DEF is frozen, the SCR
system automatically starts the Thaw Control Mode and
turns on the DEF pump, tank and tube heaters. Engine
maximum torque may be limited to protect the DEF
injector.
DEF Purge: The SCR system will automatically purge
DEF after shutting down the engine. You will hear the
pumping noise as the system circulates DEF to cool
the DEF injector, then the pump reverses to return DEF
back to the tank. Always allow this purging process to
nish to prevent damage to the injector and other SCR
components.
NEVER disconnect battery until the
purge cycle has completed to prevent serious
damage to components in the SCR system.
Be sure the DEF uid in the tank is not
contaminated before relling. Dispose of DEF uid in
accordance with environmental laws.

PV485 DIGITAL DISPLAY
Before driving the LeeBoy 685D Motor Grader, it is
important to be familiar with the PV485 PowerView™
digital controller located on the steering control panel.
This system is a multi-functional display that enables
operators to view standard engine parameters along
with active and stored trouble codes.
The digital display screen show single or multiple
text descriptions, i.e., engine temperature, voltage,
oil pressure, engine RPMs, and service reminders
or fault conditions. The operator can toggle through
different screens for displaying critical data broadcast
by the electronic engine and transmission Engine
Control Unit (ECU).
Diagnostic codes with text descriptions of fault
conditions are enhanced by ultra-bright alarm
indicators that illuminate amber or red to alert the
operator of a condition requiring attention.
An amber warning light illuminates to alert the
operator that a trouble code or service reminder
is being shown on the display.
If the red warning light illuminates, the operator
should shut down the machine and promptly
repair the problem to prevent possible damage.
