NOTE: Continued operation without completing
a parked regeneration can cause engine

too much, non-warranty factory assistance
from the engine manufacturer is required.

DRIVING THE GRADER
Motor graders can be used for a number of different
tasks in a variety of ways. This type of vehicle handles
differently than other industrial machines, with numerous
capabilities and techniques that require skill and
experience. Fine, delicate jobs must be done slowly,
while others such as snow removal or knocking rocks
off a gravel road can be done faster. Keeping control
of the grader during the entire operation is key for job
quality and overall safety.
The 685D Motor Grader offers several features to
maximize the machine’s potential and efciency while
grading. Regardless of your skill level, it is important
to read this manual thoroughly to understand the
machine’s performance. Pay particular attention to
Section 1, Safety and safety warnings contained
throughout this manual. Know and understand the
various controls and functions before operating the
machine.
NEVER allow bystanders near the
machine while operating. Never allow anyone but the
operator on the operator platform.
ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT.
Adjust the seat belt BEFORE driving the grader.
Failure to wear seat belt can result in serious injury
or death.
Because the 685D Motor Grader
is a large industrial machine, the operator should
ALWAYS sound the horn to alert others before
moving in either direction.
