GRADER ATTACHMENTS
The LeeBoy 685D Motor Grader can be equipped with a
variety of optional attachments to extend its capabilities
for grading, plowing and scarifying. These rugged
attachments can be hydraulically raised and lowered.
Front attachments are designed for maximum
operator visibility, safety and efciency. A variety of
interchangeable attachments can be mounted on
the front nose of the grader. A rear scarier option is
mounted at the factory, and typically is not removed.
(See Page 4-27)
Both front and rear attachment
lift cylinders and joints must be lubricated with
multipurpose grease weekly. (See Page 5-7)
Figure 4-38. Front Blade Option
The front blade attachment is a dozer blade used for
moving material, backlling and general plowing or
grading. Some operators also use it for snow plowing.
NOTE: Be especially careful if using the front blade
for snow plowing. Objects can be hidden
under the snow, so be sure to wear your
seat belt and work in the direction of trafc
when possible. Snow also adversely affects
traction, so use tire chains or equip the
grader with snow tires.
There are two front-mounted scarier options available:
A standard scarier and blade-mounted, ip-down
scarier
See your authorized dealer to purchase optional front
attachments.
Mounting Front Attachments
Replacing optional attachments to the front nose of the
grader is not difcult, but care must be taken to prevent
injury or damage as the attachments are heavy. It is
recommended an assistant help when mounting or
exchanging grader attachments.
ALWAYS use a sling or secured lift
to raise high enough for installation or removal on
the nose plate. Place a block under the attachment,
ensuring the attachment cannot fall and possibly
cause serious injury or damage.
Use the following procedure to mount a front attachment
(reverse procedure to remove):
1. If replacing a front attachment, rst disconnect and
cap hydraulic hoses to prevent contamination from
entering the hydraulic system. (Figure 4-40)
2. Using a sling or lift, raise the attachment so that all
six holes on the attachment plate align with the six
holes on the grader nose plate.
3. Install bolts and washers. Torque to 260 ft lbs.
