Attention:
• Read
“Installation Guidelines” on page 45 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 46 to ensure that you
work safely.
• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See
“Power off the server” on page 60.
• Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-
sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with
an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.
• After replacing the system I/O board or processor board, always update the server with the latest firmware
or restore the pre-existing firmware.
Firmware and driver download: You might need to update the firmware or driver after replacing a
component.
• Go to
https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/products/servers/thinksystem/sr635v3/7d9h//downloads/driver-
list/
to see the latest firmware and driver updates for your server.
• Go to
“Update the firmware” on page 283 for more information on firmware updating tools.

surface.
Step 2. Install the fan board and the PIB board onto the processor board. See
“Install the fan board” on
page 86
and “Install the PIB board” on page 155.
Step 3. Depending on your need, do one of the following:
• If you are going to replace the system I/O board and reuse the processor board, install a new
system I/O board onto the processor board.
• If you are going to replace the processor board and reuse the system I/O board, install the
existing system I/O board onto a new processor board.
